Patience and patient not only sound same but are inter related to each other. Patience refers to the quality of a human being of hearing something(good or bad). Whereas patient refers to a person gaining a medical treatment by a doctor in a hospital. 

When someone losses patience then he becomes the patient. In modern work one has to be very patiencefull person to achieve the sucess in life. When a person losses patience from life he becomes patient even without getting ill.
